CMM Technician

Armada is looking for a CMM Technician to support our Quality, Engineering and Production teams. Armada, an IATF 16949 certified company, uses plastic injection machines and assembly systems to build automotive components and assemblies. This individual would support the engineering group through APQP and PPAP and supports production by implementing and maintaining world class quality systems. The candidate would need automotive experience and, preferably, a plastic injection molding background. The need is immediate.

Nature And Scope of Position

To provide skills necessary for the efficient and effective operation of the Co-ordinate Measuring Machine (CMM).
To provide leadership and input in the general measurement of product.
To participate and provide input in the Quality Improvement process

Duties and Responsibilities

QUALITY SKILLS

  • Competent operation of Brown + Sharpe “Mistrel” CMM including PCDMIS software
  • Review and interpretation of prints, including abilities to interpret Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
  • Assist in Measurement System Analysis activities
    • Including performance of Gage R, Gage R+R, Linearity, Bias, Stability
  • Assist in Gage Calibration, where required
  • Be familiar with and participate in Advanced Product Quality Planning meetings. Activities will include:
    • Development and approval of gages and fixtures
    • Creating or co-ordinating the creation of all Quality documentation, including:
      • Process Flow Diagrams (participant)
      • Control Plans
      • PFMEA (participant)
      • Part Quality Work sheets
      • Inspection Records
  • Review and analysis of Coordinate Measuring data from CMM.
  • Measurement System Analysis activities
    • Including performance of:
      • Gage R,
      • Gage R+R
      • Range Method
      • Average and Range Method
      • ANOVA Method
      • Linearity,
      • Bias,
      • Stability
  • Gage Calibration
    • Including the use of GageTrak software
    • Calibration / verification of various gages including, but not limited to:
      • Verniers
      • Micrometers
      • Plug gages
  • Basic statistical knowledge, including:
    • The use of SPC software
    • Interpretation and application of the various Control Charts
    • X-bar + R, X-bar and Sigma
    • Individual Moving Range
    • Attribute Control Charts
    • Ability to read control charts and identify OOC conditions
  • Capability studies
  • Designed Experimentation
  • Internal Process Sign-offs (PSO)
  • Ability to review applicable documentation and perform process run-at-rate
  • Co-ordinating customer required PSOs (as per customer requirements)
  • Development and maintenance of Customer PPAPs
    • Including IMDS application and input
  • Review and approval/rejection of Supplier PPAPs
  • Basic statistical knowledge, including:
    • Capability studies
      • Short Term vs Long Term

QUALITY SYSTEM

  • Have detailed knowledge of Armada QMS
  • Knowledge of ISO/TS-16949: 2009 QM standards
  • Follow Quality Procedures as per the Quality System Procedures manual including the correction and improvement of the QMS where required
  • Ability to interact with Customer including Customer Visits, as required.
  • Provide measurement analysis for:
    • Quality – a) product conformance / nonconformance; b) annual PPAP layouts
    • Engineering – a) Layout of new product
    • Production staff – a) Verification of production product
  • Advise Quality Inspection staff of product conformance by:
    • Measuring or coordinating the measurement of questionable product features where the Quality Inspector is uncertain is not qualified
  • Participate in gage, fixturing review, as required
  • Provide accurate dimensional reports to Quality and/or Engineering
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

EDUCATION

  • Minimum Grade 12
  • PCDMIS Training
  • GDT Training

EXPERIENCE

  • Three years related experience
  • Exposure to APQP / PPAP
  • Exposure to ISO-9001, QS-9000 or ISO/TS-16949: 2002
